Chun Jie (Chinese New Year/ Spring Festival)

Dates: The Lunar New Year (between 19th January and 20th February)

Tet Nguyen Dan (The Festival of the First Day)

Location: Across Vietnam
Dates: Lunar New Year

Tet -a festival that ushers in the New Year and is by far the most important and celebrated day on the national calendar and its rituals begin 7days before New Year’s Day. Throughout Vietnam, the first three days belonging to the New Year are considered as official holidays, but this fails to deter the spirit of tourists who want to steep their senses in local flavors , cultures, traditions, songs and dances linked with the festival -be there!

International Ice and Snow Festival

Location: Zhaolin Park and Sun Island Park in Haerbin, China
Dates: 5th January-29th February

Thaipusam

Location: Batu Caves, just outside of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia
Date: Mid-January to mid- February– full moon during the 10th Tamil month

This most spectacular Hindu festival celebrated with unlimited zest in Malaysia is actually a wild orgy of  hideous body piercings. The event marks the day when Murugan, Lord Shiva’s son, was gifted a lance to eradicate the terror of three demons.

Carnaval de Québec (Winter Carnival)

Location: Old Town of Québec City in Canada. Events centre being Parc de l’Esplanade
Dates: Late January to the mid weeks of February
