Overnight Travel in India? Here are some Options

The glorious subcontinent of India, while home to millions of people, plays host to several more tourists coming in every year. Considered the seventh-largest country in the whole world, spanning various types of land-forms, from mountain areas, to swamps, urban plains to rural hills, with both snow, heat, and rain in various parts from various months, India is an exotic destination with all kinds of things to see.

Whether you would be at the top at Chamba town, or at the southernmost peak at Kanyakumari, one of the most important things to consider is transportation. In cases of extreme travel, there are several methods that can be used, some of which conducive even when travelling overnight.

Five Ways of Overnight Travel

By Train

Known for its magnificent train system, even referenced in the popular CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, the railroad system in India travels practically across the entire subcontinent. For those fancying a relaxing trip to the past, coupled with gorgeous scenery and entertainment, train rides are the best way to go.

There are numerous couches to take, depending on the price you want to pay as well as the desired conveniences, yet trains are the most popular method of transportation due to their cheaper costs as well as convenience.

By Bus

The ever-popular buses in India are astounding. Numerous in quantity, these buses can vary from local ones, ferrying citizens all around the city, to those who scope can include entire regions of the country.

One of the most popular buses is called the sleeper bus. Inside the sleeper bus, instead of the conventional chairs, a passenger has a pass for a small bunk, either on top or at the bottom. There, he can experience a first-class sleeping arrangement as he falls to sleep while the bus is running.

By Air

With a huge landmass, if travelling from coast to coast is the goal, the best thing to do is to take a plane. While you may miss out on the sights from the ground, the view of India from the air is equally, if not even more so, breath-taking, as you can see the mountains, oceans, and forests all dotted.

With several sections to choose from, if you need quick travel across the country, airplanes are the way to go.

Hire a Car

Renting a car while on vacation has been a popular choice, especially if you plan to stay inside a particular region for an extended period of time. With various models, all under a cheap cost, you can easily zoom across the cities, with no hassle.

Enfield Bike

One of the more popular bikes, the Enfield bike is one of the most well-known in India. As a former colony of the British Empire, these bikes were imported and were used a lot. Even though the company no longer exists, using the bike gives you a good blast from the past, as well as decent mileage for your money.

Travelling to India is one of the best decisions you can make in your life. There is, quite literally, all parts of the world represented due to differing places, regions, and climates. With so much to see, so much history to soak in, and so much culture to be witness of, travelling to India has never been easier.

If planning to drive in India, make sure to check your country’s diplomatic relations, to check how long your driver’s license would be valid, and whether you may need to get a temporary one while there.  It is recommended to obtain an international driver license.
